Millfield Senior School for pupils aged 13-18

Admissions Admissions Process

If you wish to make a formal application to Millfield please complete the Registration Form and return it together with the non-refundable registration fee of £150. This will reserve a provisional place for your child.

However, it may be that you have never visited Millfield. You may be considering day or boarding and wish to look-around before completing any forms. We offer a number of tours daily, and these would involve being shown around by a pupil and a meeting with the Registrar. In order to make an appointment please contact Admissions on the link below. We also offer three Open Days per year.

Year 9 - 10 entry

Our largest intake for pupils is at Year 9 level (over 200). Entrance is dependent upon a good school report and interview. We also ask all pupils to sit an online aptitude test to help us set pupils. Common Entrance (if applicable) is also used as a guide for setting purposes.
All interviews are conducted in a child's Year 8. Scholarships can also be applied for.

There are also spaces for about 30 pupils per year to join our Year 10.

In September 2014 we will be introducing a new programme at Year 9 called Nine at Millfield.  The programme has been specifically designed to meet the academic and developmental needs of 13-14 year olds, to ensure they make the successful transition from a prep or junior school to the next stage of their schooling at Millfield.  Read more

Lower Sixth entry

At Lower Sixth level we take about 130 new pupils. Entrance is again dependent upon a good school report and interview. If a pupil wishes to follow a full sixth form programme a minimum of 4B and 2C grades (including Maths and English) at GCSE or equivalent are required. Scholarships are also offered at this level of entry.

In cases where pupils cannot manage to attend Millfield for an interview, the Registrar will conduct one by Skype.

Offer letters are usually sent to parents within a week of the interviews. Two weeks is more likely after Scholarship Days. You then have three weeks to decide whether to accept the school's offer. In some cases this time can be extended. A deposit and acceptance fee is required from you when accepting a place.

Once accepted the Admissions Department will then guide you through all the paperwork before your child starts at Millfield.
