Millfield 1st XI footballers secure ISFA cup final place

Congratulations to the Millfield 1st XI footballers on reaching their second ISFA Boodles Cup final in a row.

The team secured their place in the final, their sixth in total, with a 5-0 win away win in their semifinal against Shrewsbury on Friday.

Playing quick passing football, Millfield were 2-0 up inside 15 minutes courtesy of two well-taken goals by Matt Golby, before Tom Whelan made it 3-0 before half-time with a superb 30-yard strike.

Millfield continued to dominate the midfield exchanges in the second period of play, creating numerous chances. Goalkeeper Will Godmon and his fellow defenders were rarely troubled, and an outstanding individual goal by Jonathan Gallagher sealed the victory. Dom Webb added the fifth with a deft free kick five minutes from time.

Millfield will play the winner of Thursday's match between Alleyn's and Forest in the final, played on Thursday 21st March at MK Dons FC.

Having made at least the semi-finals of the ISFA competition for the last twelve years, Millfield will be keen to lift the trophy after narrowly missing out 2-1 to Hampton last year.

The team are eyeing further silverware in the ESFA U18 trophy, with their quarter-final match, against either Harefield Academy or Sutton Grammar School, to be scheduled soon.
