Robert is Professor of Prosthetic Dentistry at King’s College London Dental Institute. Educated at Millfield, (Etonhurst 1960 – 1965) he played First XI cricket from 1962-65, Captain in 1965. He went on to attend Guy’s Hospital Dental School, University of London, graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree. A PhD at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences and a Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow followed. During this time Robert also held clinical posts at Guy’s Hospital and the Royal Dental Hospital.
In 1980 Robert was appointed Professor of Prosthetic Dentistry at Hong Kong University (1980 – 1994). He also held posts as visiting professor at Sun Yat Sen Medical University and Jinan University, China. Robert was the Founding Secretary of the Hong Kong College of Dental Surgeons, a constituent College of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.
Returning to the UK in 1995, Robert was President of the British Society for the Study of Prosthetic Dentistry from 2001 - 2002. He has been a Committee member of the Old Millfieldian Society since 1996 and was the Chairman between 2002 – 2005 and again between 2006 – 2008. He has been a Governor since 2007.
