Together with her husband and Dutch partners, Christobel (Bella) runs a small business in Somerset that manufactures and exports seed tapes.
She attended Farlington School, Horsham and Moira House, Eastbourne, going on to qualify as a Speech and Language Therapist in London in 1974. Following this, she worked in Cambridge and at Charing Cross Hospital where she became Head of Department in 1979. She and her husband went to work in Hong Kong later that year and she studied Cantonese at Hong Kong University in order to be able to work with Chinese physically disabled children. Before returning to Britain 22 years ago, she and her family also lived in Sydney, Australia, where she worked in a Rehabilitation Unit with stroke victims.
She has been a Samaritan and also a business mentor within the Young Enterprise Scheme. She is an active member of Amnesty International. A further keen interest is education and Bella has been and still is a Governor in both state and independent sectors. She was appointed a Governor at Millfield in 2008.
