About Millfield Governors

Mrs Clare Cripps

  • Staff Liaison Governor
  • Member of Audit Committee
  • Member of Appointments Committee
  • Trustee of Millfield Retirement Benefits Scheme

After accumulating a wealth of experience in Personnel, University administration and general management, Clare has decided to take early retirement in order to devote more time to Millfield and to pursue other interests.

Educated at Millfield from 1965 – 1968 as a boarder (Elmsett Hall, Holmcroft and Ashcott), Clare graduated from University College London with a degree in Anthropology. She pursued an initial career in personnel management in the City, qualifying as a graduate member of the Institute of Personnel Management in 1972.

Clare then moved to Imperial College, where she was appointed as Residence Officer, followed by Academic Registrar and then as Alumnus Officer. Whilst in this position, she instigated the College’s first on-line alumni database. In 1994 she moved to Chichester and joined West Sussex County Council in 1997, becoming a Senior Manager in 1999 and later heading up the Registration and Coroners Service. In 2006 she was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management. She will be taking a course in Art History with the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Clare was appointed a Governor in 2007.
