Richard was educated at Clifton College, Bristol. In 1992, he graduated from the University of Durham with an honours degree in Law before taking Law Society Finals at the College of Law, Chester.
Having spent 5 years in the City, Richard joined Burges Salmon in 1998 where he is Head of Real Estate, specialising in commercial property investment and development, acting for a range of institutional clients, including most notably The Crown Estate.
Richard has a passion for sport (including rackets in which he was National Schools Champion in 1986, rugby and cricket for which he was awarded University Palatinates) although these days equestrian activities feature most prominently in the family's sporting diary. He is married to Hetty and they have 4 children.
Richard has previously been a Trustee of Scripture Union, is a member of the Investment Property Forum and is a cricketing Free Forester.
