David Williamson

David has vast experience in the educational context and as well as being a Governor for Millfield (he was appointed in 2009), he is also a Governor for Shiplake College and Pinewood Preparatory School. Additionally, he has acted as an External Adviser on the appointment of Bursars to eight HMC schools and two IAPS schools since 1995.

David has given various presentations on the financial management of independent schools to the Association of Governing Bodies of Independent Schools’, seminars for Governors and has also contributed to HMC Professional Development courses for new Heads and for Deputy Heads.

He was educated at Bryanston School and the University of Warwick, graduating in 1968 with BA Honours degree in History. After 19 years as a University Administrator, latterly as Senior Assistant Registrar at the University of East Anglia, he was appointed Bursar and Clerk to the Governors of Hurstpierpoint College from 1988 - 1994 and Bursar of Marlborough College from 1994 – 2009.

From 1995 – 2001, David was a member of the Executive Committee of the Independent Schools Bursars’ Association (ISBA), as Vice-Chairman from 1997 – 1999 and as Chairman from 1999 – 2001. He was a member of the Governing Council of the Independent Schools Council (ISC) from 1997 – 2001 and, from 1999 – 2001, Chairman of the ISC Unity Committee.
