Millfield GCSE Results Day 2011 - Millfield pupils celebrate impressive exam results on GCSE results day.

Millfield pupils are celebrating impressive GCSE results with a total of 228 students successfully completing GCSE and IGCSE courses in 34 different.

Over 91% of all entries (GCSE and IGCSE) were graded A*- C. Particularly pleasing was the number of A* grades which increased to over 18%; 34 pupils achieved 10 or more A* or A grades.

There were outstanding individual results for Eleanor Hussey (from Wiltshire) who added 12 A* grades (Biology, Chemistry, Classical Greek, English Literature, English Language, Geography, History, Maths, Latin, Music, Physics and Spanish) and an A grade in Additional Maths to an already impressive A* grade in French from a previous year. Eleanor, who is also a gifted musician, will be returning to Millfield to pursue her keen interest in Classics.

Harriet Dixon (from Monmouthshire) achieved 10 A* grades (Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, English Language, Geography, History, Economics, Maths, Italian and Physics) and an A grade in Additional Maths. These excellent results were added to the A* grades in French and Spanish which Harriet achieved last year. Harriet has represented Great Britain in fencing and will return to Millfield to further her studies alongside her interests in netball and trampolining.

James Chater, (from Thatcham, Berkshire) achieved an impressive 11 A* grades (Biology, Chemistry, Chinese, English Literature, English Language, French, Geography, Economics, Maths, Music and Physics) and an A grade in Additional Maths. James returns to Millfield's Sixth Form to pursue his academic studies, lead the orchestra and continue as member of Millfield's elite swimming squad.

Alexander Ash, (from Blackford, Somerset) added 10 A* grades (Biology, Chemistry, Design Technology, English Literature, English Language, French, History, Economics, Maths and Physics) and A grade in Additional Maths to an earlier A* grade in Italian.

Commenting on the pupils' achievements, Craig Considine, Headmaster of Millfield said: "Congratulations to our pupils who have put a lot of hard work into achieving these grades, and the results are a testament to their efforts. The Millfield curriculum provides an excellent basis for pupils preparing for A level study, subsequent application to university and life beyond school. "
