GCSE
All pupils study Biology up to GCSE level. In Year 10 they take the Core Science GCSE. This is followed by the Additional Science Course, which is examined at the end of Year 11. Both courses have Biology units.
Some pupils continue to take Biology and gain a GCSE in a Separate Science subject. This means that they can potentially gain three GCSEs in science.
AS-Level Biology
Pupils study the AQA Biology course. There are three units in the AS syllabus combining coursework and examinations. The course covers a wide and engaging range of topics including evolution, adaptation and cell structure.
A2-Level Biology
Once more, combining coursework (20% of overall grade) and examinations, pupils investigate key biological concepts and theories across three units. From gene expression to osmosis and the flow of energy nutrients through ecosystems, pupils will immerse themselves in this fascinating subject.
