Facilities
We maintain a very well-equipped Biology department at Millfield. This includes a purpose-built building featuring:
•13 teaching laboratories
•Two preparation rooms
•Four greenhouses
•A computer suite consisting of 14 networked PC stations
•A well-established aquatic habitat
•Over 1,000 species in our preserved collection
One of our greenhouses is home to an impressive display of Carnivorous plants from around the world, including Venus Flytraps, Sundews and Heliamphora chimantensis (pitcher plants).
The department is also home to four Chipmunks, Goldfish, Dwarf Russian Hamsters and a pair of Rankin’s Dragons who have produced over 100 offspring in the biology department.
