Millfield Senior School for pupils aged 13-18

Academic studies at Millfield Biology

Welcome to the Biology Department

Biology at Millfield is very ‘hands-on’. We believe in doing as much practical-based study as possible. Pupils are encouraged to conduct experiments to learn new concepts and ideas by observation. The results and principles they develop are then used to help predict the outcomes of further experiments.

Our approach develops their ability to evaluate and relate to previously learned principles – a biologist’s foremost skill. Furthermore, by studying our vast number of organisms this encourages pupils to develop a greater appreciation of our fragile world.

Biology Courses at Millfield:

•GCSE Core Science (Biology component)
•GCSE Additional Science (Biology component)
•GCSE Biology

All pupils study Biology to GCSE level.

Exceptional facilities

The department features state of the art facilities with a vast array of preserved and living organisms. This combined with our exceptional teaching staff creates an exciting and illuminating environment.
