GCSE Business Studies
Very much steeped in the ‘real world’ GCSE Business Studies covers:
• Business Enterprise – forming businesses, multinational and franchises
• Marketing – research, promotion and strategy
• Finance – investment, accounting, profit and loss
• Production – from manufacturing, stock control through to logistics
• People management – selection, organisation, motivation and reward
• Business Environment – markets, ecommerce, law and the economy
We encourage pupils to debate and investigate issues and news from the world of business alongside learning the practical theories that underpin the subject.
GCSE Business Studies
Course content and assessment
This involves two one-hour examinations, taken at the end of the 4th and 5th Years along with a piece of coursework.
The exams are based on two units of study:
• Setting up a business
• Growing a business
GCSE Business and Communication Systems (BCS)
Computers and communication are very much at the heart of any business. We develop our pupils’ appreciation and understanding of this through practical exercises, debate and tuition.
Course content and assessment
Three quarters of class time are spent developing computing skills – from web design to databases, security and communication systems. The other quarter involves discussing learning about ICT, ICT systems in business and how they improve performance. The GCSE offers the perfect balance of theoretical and hands on study for our pupils.
