Welcome to the Computing & ICT Department
Computing is constantly evolving, today’s technology and theories can quickly be superseded or even become obsolete. At Millfield we ensure our teaching is always contemporary by combining an exceptionally talented teaching team with ongoing investment in technology.
Our teachers come from a wide-range of backgrounds. From scientific programmers to project managers and Heads of IT with major organisations; they combine exceptional theory with the highest levels of industry experience. This allows them to readily share the practical applications and benefits of the subject.
Courses available
All pupils study ICT from Year 9 and can choose to study ICT and Computer Science at GCSE level. Both GCSE courses are IGCSE's. There is no course work in ICT as pupils take two practical exams instead. There is a small project in Computer Science.
The department is very well equipped with specialist rooms that allow teachers to combine theory with practise in one location.
