Nine full time teachers and two technicians staff Millfield’s Chemistry Department. The Department is housed in its own building consisting of 9 well-equipped laboratories, a lecture theatre with full audio-visual facilities, and a well stocked preparation room. An outdoor laboratory is also available for those experiments that are best done outside.
All students study Chemistry up to GCSE Level. After this point the options available depend on the individual. All students will follow the Core Science and Additional Science course and some will follow the seperate Chemistry course (old triple award). Chemistry is taught as a separate subject within a coordinated framework. Within this there may a small number of students who will follow just the Core Science course. This course is modular with the Chemistry-based modules being taught by the Department. AS and A-Level Chemistry are available for all Sixth Form students wishing to continue their studies.
