Welcome to the English Department
Authors and screenwriters such as John Le Carre and Robert Bolt were all teachers at Millfield. Indeed they penned some of their most famous works whilst teaching here. Great poets like Ted Hughes and Simon Armitage have addressed our literary society.
So it must come as no surprise that many of our pupils become biographers, novelists and children's authors!
Materially the department is well provided for with computer rooms, the library and access to the school's amazing Drama facilities.
We also run a debating team and enrichment program for Year 9 upwards. This has included trips and mentoring from undergraduates at Cambridge.
