Courses
Media Studies is compatible with all other academic subjects and universally accepted by universities. It is useful for careers in the media and training in film or broadcasting. The A-Level is not necessary to study at degree level.
Study combines practical and theoretical work with heavy emphasis on the use of new media.
AS-Level
Combining theory with hands on activities pupils work as teams to film and edit their own fictional film. This two-unit course offers a wide, thorough and exciting journey through media and combines coursework (the film project) with examinations.
A2-Level
Building on knowledge and experience developed in year one, candidates must plan and construct a media product such as:
• A promotion package for a new film
• Advertising for a new product
• Extract from a television documentary
This is internally assessed and externally monitored. Pupils will also be examined on:
• Theoretical Evaluation of Advanced Production
• Contemporary Media Issues
