GCSE Religious Studies
We encourage our pupils to debate and discuss contemporary issues during this course. We aim to help shape their understanding of society and our multi-cultural environment. The course also develops tolerance and a more accepting mind.
Course content
Across two units of study, pupils cover a variety of Religions including Islam, Christianity, Judaism and Buddhism with special focus on Contemporary Issues. Multi-faceted and enlightening, we encourage our pupils to question and debate the philosophies and outlooks this course uncovers.
Assessment is conducted through two examinations. There is no coursework.
A-Level Religious Studies
Pupils do not require any previous knowledge of the subject to study at A-Level. All we ask is that they like to think, question, challenge and debate.
AS-Level
This course opens pupils minds to fundamental philosophical, ethical and religious issues. From the problems of evil to sexual ethics and war and peace, pupils study two units of which one involves an examination on Medical Ethics.
A2-Level
Two further units are undertaken, which require two written exams. Pupils study, debate and question issues such as the ontological argument, arguments for the non-existence of God, life after death, religious experience and language.
