All students study Chemistry up to GCSE Level. After this point the options available depend on the individual. The top sets study towards the single subject: (Chemistry GCSE) while the majority are prepared for the cor and Additional Science course (Old Dual Award). For these students Chemistry is taught as a separate subject within a co-ordinated framework. A small number of students follow Core Science. AS and A Level Chemistry are available for all Sixth Form students wishing to continue their studies.
Nine full time teachers and two technicians staff Millfield’s Chemistry Department. The Department is housed in its own building consisting of 9 well-equipped laboratories, a lecture theatre with full audio-visual facilities, and a well stocked preparation room. An outdoor laboratory is also available for those experiments that are best done outside.
