The department has a tradition of producing excellent productions and training pupils in physical and vocal performance to a very sophisticated level. These are showcased in the two major Drama productions that the School holds each year.

Shakespeare Schools Festival
Meyer Theatre

This year Millfield is once again proud to be part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival and have made the exciting choice of Macbeth. This national festival brings Shakespeare alive with fantastic opportunities for all those involved.The cast list has just been announced and in November 14 of Year 10's finest Shakespearean bards will be taking to the stage. Following their performance in the Meyer Theatre, on the 17th of November, the pupils will present their 30 minute tale of greed and ambition at the Tobacco Factory, Bristol. The cast are also eagerly anticipating their workshop with the National Youth Theatre, which will equip them with all the skills needed to tackle one of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies. This gory tale will be taking shape during the beginning of term so keep an eye out in the Drama department for photos and evidence of the cast preparing themselves for the battle.

Senior School Production: A Christmas Carol
Meyer Theatre


The 2011 Senior Production will be an adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Adapted using Dickens' own words and performed using a versatile ensemble of actors, the aim is to marry the traditional narrative with some modern performance techniques and production. The show promises to be everything you could wish for from this classic tale of mortality and forgiveness.
