Past productions
Each year, the Department puts on two large scale productions and a range of smaller productions.
Last November, the ancient Cornish love story, ‘Tristan and Yseult’ was performed over four nights. Described as “a poem to love and all its madness”, the play is a modern adaptation of a legend which is believed to predate that of Lancelot and Guinevere, and according to some may even have been the inspiration for that part of the Arthurian Legend. The set was colourful, bold and imaginative, with the creative use of lighting adding to the drama of the play.
In May, Junior School pupil pupils performed, Bugsy Malone. Bugsy Malone is a gangster musical with an all-children cast. Cream firing ‘Splurge Guns’ replace real weapons and Sasparilla replaces alcohol. The musical tells the story of Bugsy Malone and his rise against Fat Sam and Dandy Dan The young cast were inspirational in committing to the project. The hours of time, sweat and effort expended in rehearsals were evident in every night’s performance.
