Facilities
Art, Design & Technology
The marvellously equipped Fine Arts Centre, which has six large studio workshops allows specialist tutors to teach pupils a wide range of arts, including Drawing, Painting, Print-making, Textiles, Sculpture, Photography and Fashion. The Design and Technology Centre bristles with hi-tech equipment to allow our designers and would be engineers to prepare for industry. CAD/CAM programmes, CNC machinery and 3D prototypers are amongst a plethora of equipment pupils can use to realise their designs.
Drama
The Meyer Theatre is a fantastic building with a flexible hydraulic stage and seating facility so that productions may be performed in-the-round, or with a thrust stage, as a traditional proscenium arch, or with all the seats pushed back to convert the building into an open studio space. The theatre can accommodate audiences of up to 450 and is used for many school events such as drama and dance productions, assemblies, movie showings, lectures and numerous other events.
Music
The School’s Concert Hall and Music School is a significant venue for the performing arts. The acoustic of the Concert Hall is designed primarily for classical music performance and is adjustable with the use of motorised drapes. The stage offers a large performance area on a solid oak floor and is enhanced by a visual design based around the wooden acoustic treatment. Elaborate sound insulation has been a major factor in the design of the Music School and Studio Suite along with provision of practice and teaching facilities second to none, including six classrooms and twenty-two practice rooms.
