Violin
So Ock Kim
Born in Seoul in 1982, So Ock Kim moved to London at the age of three. At 15, she was the youngest ever winner of the gold medal in the prestigious Shell/LSO Competition. She is now one of the world's foremost soloists, in demand throughout the world for concertos and as a recitalist. This concert heralds the beginning of So Ock Kim's role as String Consultant to the Music Department here at Millfield, a relationship which will further develop the training available to our young string players through masterclasses and individual coaching. So Ock plays a 1666 Antonius Stradivarius kindly loaned to her by an anonymous donor.
"Breathtaking virtuosity... she shaped a powerful performance... magic"
