On Saturday 14th June, thirty one Old Millfieldians returned to Millfield School in Street for the first ever Old Millfieldian Careers Convention. The returning former pupils gave informative talks about their respective professions to current lower sixth form pupils.

Advice was given on a wide variety of careers, including a presentation from “Sir” Harry Cowell on music production and a talk by Professor Alan Richardson about International Business. Civil Engineering, Law, Medicine, The City and Design were just some of the other career paths that interested pupils learnt about during the convention.

Mr Paul Kelly, Head of Higher Education and Careers at Millfield said, “Our current students had an unrivalled opportunity to engage with a whole range of Old Millfieldians of different ages and professions. The enthusiasm of many speakers was infectious. They stressed the value of certain degrees, of work experience and of dedication to a chosen career path; they painted an honest picture of the competitive job market, but were encouraging in their address. The day proved to be a productive event for everyone involved”.
