The Grange is a new name (belonging to a former Millfield House) in 2010 as the house has changed to accommodate Sixth Form boys. The Grange is located five minutes' walk from the school campus. The extensive gardens are excellent for outdoor activities, barbeques and parties. The Grange has a large functioning kitchen that the boys can use and is also used to prepare House Sunday lunches.
There is an intimate family atmosphere at the Grange with the pupils getting to know each other and the staff very well. The House has a really welcoming and comfortable feel and the staff strive to create a home-from-home. In the summer the boys spend much time outside playing football or other games in the gardens or just socialising together outside.
Jill Tait-Harris has been a houseparent for three years and is tutor in charge of Food and Nutrition; she also coaches hockey. Before joining Millfield Jill was the Head of the Technology Faculty at The British School of the Netherlands in The Hague. This gave Jill the opportunity to work with international and British students, experience that has proved invaluable at Millfield.
Jill's husband is Jonathan; they have two children, Alice, who is studying at Manchester University and Henry, who is at Millfield.
Jill's interests include travel (family holidays) and rambling; Jonathan's hobbies are yacht racing, The Field and motor racing.
