Martins boasts a unique layout and size yet offers a personalised, homely feel. Year 9 to L6th all share a large common room with a kitchen, which offers natural opportunity to build relationships between the different year groups and this brings a genuinely well connected feel. A highlight of the week is the whole house Saturday night Chinese take away followed by traditional board games, where all the girls come together to round off a busy week. The feeling of being at ‘home' is really important at Martins and the girls enjoy the comfort of a welcoming and caring atmosphere.

The house opened in September 1998 and was named after the retiring Headmaster, Christopher Martin. It is in an excellent position, near enough to the centre of the campus but still in its own enclosed space and within easy reach of the swimming pool, athletics track and golf course. It fosters a multitude of talent ranging from some budding artists who enjoy their own studio space on the top floor in the Art Room, to the talented riders who enjoy the close proximity to the stables. The girls at Martins definitely keep hold of their own individuality and like to embrace life in all its fullness.

Matt and Natalie Bone became Houseparents at Martins in January 2012 and hope to help the girls make meaningful memories of their time at Millfield which they will remember for the rest of their lives. They create a warm and inviting family atmosphere where individualised pastoral care is paramount. They have been married for 14 years and their two children Izzy (12) and Charlie (11) are at Millfield Prep. There are also four small four-legged friends who help to keep the family sane.

Prior to joining Martins Natalie was at Kernick for 3 years as Live-out Assistant then Assistant Houseparent. She is a teacher within the dynamic Maths department and has a particular interest in innovative teaching and learning methods. Prior to teaching Natalie worked within the finance industry for Lloyds TSB and St James' Place. She is also a National level Dressage competitor and classical rider, as well as a Netball coach.

Assistant Houseparent Nina Ritzaki joined Millfield in 2008 and teaches Product Design and Btec Art. She is an enthusiastic and passionate Year 9 Group Tutor who enjoys the Year 9 Experience as much as, if not more than, the pupils!
