Millfield House holds a special place in the history of Millfield and has been at the centre of the school for over 75 years.
Rich and Jen Owlett have been Houseparents at Millfield House since September 2010. He teaches Business Studies, coaches rugby, and is an RYA dinghy instructor. He has been in charge of weekend events at the school, organises many trips covering a diverse range of interests from sky diving to topical debates. He frequently hosts dinners for local politicians and business people to enable pupils to have direct exposure to relevant people from a wide circle of backgrounds. A boarder himself from the age of eight, Rich worked in industry for 17 years before becoming a qualified teacher in 2003. His first post was at Kings' School, Winchester, and prior to joining Millfield he worked at The Burgate School in Hampshire.
Jen Owlett studied Agricultural and Countryside Management at University and has lived in New Zealand, Switzerland, Greece and the UK.
Rich Owlett has two sons, Jack and Archie, and the family dog is a field spaniel called Oakley. Jen gave birth to a new daughter Maddie Coco in February 2012, and she is currently in possession of her first scooter. She runs a lot and is picking up most racquets and having a go, and is equally interested in footballs and rugby balls. In their spare time Rich and Jen like to travel, spend time with Jack, Archie and Maddie and also enjoy most outdoor pursuits such as sailing, boating and walking in addition to music, pubs and good food.
