Millfield House holds a special place in the history of Millfield and has been at the centre of the school for 75 years. It is the original school building which opened to pupils in 1935. Standing in the very heart of the school campus, it was refurbished in 2010 to accommodate 22 Sixth Form boys and house staff.
Rich and Jen Owlett have been Houseparents at Millfield House since September 2010. Rich has been a non-resident Assistant Houseparent at Etonhurst House before taking over at Millfield. He teaches Business Studies, is a rugby and sailing coach and is also in charge of weekend events at the school. A boarder himself from the age of eight, Rich worked in industry for 17 years before making the switch to teaching in 2003. His first post was at Kings' School Winchester, and prior to joining Millfield he worked at The Burgate School in Hampshire.
Jen Owlett studied Agricultural and Countryside Management at University and has lived in New Zealand, Switzerland, Greece and the UK.
Rich Owlett has two sons, Jack and Archie, and the family dog is a field spaniel called Oakley. Jen gave birth to a new daughter Maddie Coco in February 2012. In their spare time Rich and Jen like to travel, spend time with Jack, Archie and Maddie and also enjoy most outdoor pursuits such as sailing, boating and walking in addition to music, pubs and good food.
