Shapwick Manor in Shapwick village opened as a House in 1956 with RH Goodwin as Housemaster. Barry Hobson took over in 1958 and ran the House until 1981, when the House in the village closed and it moved into the present building on Butleigh Road. Northfield and Shapwick Houses were amalgamated into one house in 1985. There are three common rooms, a pool table and table tennis.

Shapwick is the closest house to the campus facilities and class rooms. The boys are proud of their house and passionate about supporting each other in the school environment.

The houseparents Mr and Mrs Mallett are both Old Millfieldians. Mr Mallett is a P.E. teacher and rugby coach. Before returning to Millfield John was a professional rugby player at Bath. Previously he has taught at Marlborough College and Brighton College. Emma was a midwife and health visitor before the arrival of the four Mallett children. As houseparents John and Emma feel privileged to be able to enjoy the unique mix of pupils in Shapwick. The house provides the foundation for the boys to flourish and enjoy the special opportunities on offer at Millfield. John and Emma strive to help the boys leave Shapwick as happy young men with moral integrity and good manners.

The Malletts have four children, Ben, Joe, Ollie, Nancy. As a family their interests include travel and sport.
