The Lakes is a wonderfully supportive Day House, the girls get on with others in different years and also the Overleigh girls with whom they share the Cottage.

The Cottage has a fully equipped kitchen and the girls can buy tuck and get toast after school; fruit is also available. Facilities include a common room for each year group, with a TV and lots of sofas/beanbags, a small computer room, a lovely garden which is used for BBQ's and fun and games in the summer. There are also changing rooms with lockers, toilets and showers, and space for pupils to store belongings and work. The Lakes has two lovely matrons, Liz in the mornings and Clare in the afternoons, who do a fantastic job of looking after the Cottage and everyone in it.

Lakes girls are some of the most academic, musical and talented girls in the school and manage their time wonderfully while always having enough time and energy left to get involved with house events. There is a great sense of community and the girls really care for and look after one another. They are very competitive and give everything their all, regardless of how good they are.

Having a day girls' base helps with vertical integration and provides a place to relax and meet their friends and staff in a different environment. There is a great level of commitment and the girls show that they really care about each other. The Lakes is known as a being a bit of an academic powerhouse!

This is Talitha Crouch's first year as a Houseparent; she was an assistant Houseparent last year and a Group Tutor the year before. She has been at Millfield for 3 Years and taught History at Canford School, Dorset prior to this.

Talitha's hobbies and interests include riding her horse, Gift; walking her doggy Dilli, reading, cooking, (and eating), baking cakes, seeing friends, theatre especially seeing the northern ballet , theatre and film or anything funny.
