International Students
An International Flavour
Millfield is proud of its international make-up; of the School’s 1250 pupils, 16% are from overseas, representing over 50 different nationalities.
Many of these pupils receive specialised English language tuition (EAL) from MELS (Millfield English Language School), and Mrs Orton, one of the MELS teachers, oversees the International Student Association.
International Student Association

The International Association is geared to giving international students collective representation, celebrating the international diversity within the School and supporting international students with any issues of concern.
Each year the School hosts two ‘International Evenings’ to celebrate the cultural diversity of its pupils. The first event, in September or October, welcomes new international pupils and gives them an opportunity of seeing the cultural diversity of pupils and staff. The second, in February, is one of the highlights of the school calendar. A colourful ‘catwalk’ display of various national costumes has become a popular annual event, as have the diverse performances of music and dance which follow. The members of our outstanding catering staff never fail to rise to the challenge of creating a range of dishes from all continents.
