Who can take part?
Clay Shooting is flourishing at Millfield; the squad being one of the foremost in the British Isles. All pupils are welcome to join regardless of their age or ability; the only prerequisite being enthusiasm. At the National Schools Championships in 2007, Millfield was able to field three girls’ teams, a feat unmatched by any other school. Currently 35 pupils shoot at each session, whilst around 65 pupils shoot at some point during the year.
Under the guidance of our six coaches (including former and current British national team members) pupils are able to develop their skills, whilst having the opportunity to compete in various fixtures and annual competitions.
What’s involved?
Clay shooting takes place every Wednesday throughout the school year, and Monday evenings during the summer and early autumn. Coaching is held at Brook Bank Shooting Ground near Cheddar, where pupils have access to skeet, DTL and UT facilities. (For a full list of facilities, click here)
Pupils also have the chance to shoot in numerous competitions as we participate in both regular matches (home and away) and tournaments (such as the Scottish Nationals in Edinburgh).
