Millfield Senior School for pupils aged 13-18

Millfield Sport Cricket

Who can take part?

Millfield is one of the finest cricketing schools in the UK, known not only for our exceptional achievements but also for our ability to cater for pupils of all abilities. 14 teams are in active competition against schools across the region, including a girls’ XI team which recently played the MCC ladies’ team. Everyone is given the opportunity to play cricket at Millfield.

Our balanced fixture list provides high standard matches for experienced senior players (regularly playing university, county academy and touring sides), whilst our Junior Leagues Programme introduces pupils to the basic skills of the game. Many Millfieldians go on to play at county level, and the School can count among its alumni David Graveney, England stars Simon Jones, Ben Hollioake, Craig Keiswetter and West Indies' Kieran Powell.

What's involved?

The training programme is led by Head Coach Mark Davis, himself a former Somerset player. Cricketers undertake a varied programme that includes net sessions, fielding sessions and match scenarios. A Winter training programme is also offered for elite players, with an emphasis on technique and involves some strength and conditioning work.

Richard Ellison, Master in Charge of cricket and former Kent and England cricketer.

Mark Garraway, the former England analyst and Director of Irish cricket, is a recent addition to the coaching team

The School also competes in a number of tournaments for different age groups, including the U14 County Cup, the National Schools T20 Competition and both the Lords Taverners and T20 U15 Competitions.
