Who can take part?
Millfield runs a wealth of outdoor activities, available to every pupil. These are not only an exciting means to develop fitness and stamina, but also help build mental strength and perseverance – all skills that are of huge importance throughout adult life. Most importantly however is that pupils come away with achievements, satisfaction, confidence, and a real love for 'The Great Outdoors’.
What’s involved?
Our 20 staff provide an exceptional support base for pupils looking to explore new areas of interest, or develop current skills. Between our dedicated coaches we run courses in:
• Canoeing
• Caving
• Climbing
• Coasteering
• Cycling
• Kayaking
• Sailing
• Surfing
• Ten Tors
• The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Although weekly trips within the South West are a feature of the term, many expeditions take place out of school time to give pupils challenging and enjoyable experiences. Recent trips have included Climbing in Calpe (Spain), Kayaking in the French Alps and Mountaineering in Switzerland.
