Millfield participates in a host of local, regional and national rugby competitions. Information on this term’s fixtures and results can be found here.
Below are some examples of the more regular rugby tournaments we compete in:
1st XV – St Joseph’s Festival
2nd XV – South Coast Kings 15-a-side
Foals (U14) – Blundell’s Sevens, Warwick Sevens
Junior Colts (U15) – Millfield 10-a-side, Blundell’s Sevens, South Coast Kings 15-a-side, Warwick Sevens, Wimbledon College Sevens, Daily Mail Cup
Senior Colts (U16) – Millfield Sevens, South-West Sevens, Wycliffe Sevens, All England Sevens, Rosslyn Park National Sevens, Warwick Sevens, Stowe Sevens
1st VII – Christ’s Brecon Sevens, Marches Sevens, South-West Sevens, Surrey Sevens
Rugby Tours
The School arranges rugby tours for both Junior and Senior players. Junior rugby tours are inclusive of all boys who wish to attend, whilst Senior trips are selective. Our recent tours have included Australia, Canada, France, Italy and South Africa, and have all been great successes.
Pre-season training takes place in late August, usually at Millfield but has involved travel to Ireland and Cornwall.
Easter Tours 2011
The First XV rugby squad will travel to South Africa to compete in the St John's College Rugby Festival. Twelve teams have registered for the annual festival, which is in its 16th year, and there will also be a tournament for Preparatory schools. The squad leaves from Heathrow Airport returning 11 days later after playing three matches in South Africa.
Rugby Senior Colts squad travel to Italy for five days. The squad will play matches against Petrarca Padova and Rugby Rovigo.
The U15 rugby team travel to Portugal for a weekend playing in the Portugal Rugby Festival, which takes place in Lisbon. The tournament, in its third year, features teams from countries across the world including Italy, Germany and Canada.
