Coaches
Coaches at Millfield should aim to support all the players to enable them to achieve their potential. At the core of this aim is the ability to manage players whose personalities may be very wide ranging. In order to achieve this goal coaches should aim to be:
- Positive communicators using language carefully (‘be strong in the tackle rather than don't miss tackles').
- Patient, caring and honest with clear expectations and knowledge of the players.
- Available to players to discuss their performance and provide feedback, actively encouraging them to take responsibility for this.
- Inspirational, interesting and innovative in order to provide an enjoyable learning environment.
- Organised and open to new ideas, with clear goals for the team and players with emphasis on attacking skills.
- Emotionally stable to provide support for all those in their care.
