This has been another triumphant year for Millfield Badminton. The ‘A’ team of Alex Cox, Daniel Chan (Captain), Jun Wong and Tatchon Leelaprachakul retained the title of Taunton Schools’ League Champions, beating a Huish College side containing a number of county players. Our strength in-depth was illustrated by the ‘B’ team finishing second in division two, where they played against many schools’ ‘A’ teams. In addition The ‘C’ team of Calvin Lee, Chris Liang, Charles Lam and Kay Hanjitkasem deserve particular mention for their excellent, battling performance to win division three by the narrowest of margins.
The Girls’ squad continues to develop and finished the season strongly to snatch second place in division two of their league. The large number of enthusiastic players attending training was extremely encouraging and promises much for next season.
The junior players have trained well this year and have benefited from the opportunity to attend sessions run by a county coach to further develop their skills. With a number of the team regulars leaving us this year, I look forward to many of the younger players making the step up and establishing themselves in the full squad.
