National Cup 2006/7: Three out of the four teams qualified from the SW groups to the National Rounds of the Cup Competiton: U16 (Winners) , U15 (Runner-Up) , and U14 (Winners) . The U16 reached the last 16, losing out to St Bonaventure’s from East London, and U14 are still in the cup at the last 16 stage and are due to play Bohunt to go to the National Finals Final 8 Tournament in March.
The 1st team and U16 have also joined the Somerset Club League for the first time this year. While the 1st team, mostly L6, are finding the going tough against mens’ sides, the U16 are currently in the top 4 teams. This has been great for regular fixtures throughout the first 2 terms.
Several players have been invited to play for the Taunton Tigers National League Academy sides at U18 and U16 ; only 1, Kristian Eustace, has been able to take up the place , other have been to busy with other sports and work commitments . Cameron Seeley ,Former Wales and Taunton Tigers 1st team coach, has come in to help coach, and this has helped tremendously, particularly at the junior end, as the Cup results show.
This summer we will take a 3rd year side on tour to South Africa to play the top schools in Cape Town and visit the surrounding areas and go on a Safari.
