Golf Academy
Millfield has two PGA qualified golf professionals, Karen Nicholls and Stuart Wells. Karen is Director of Golf and Stuart is the Head Coach. Karen is a member of the Ladies European Tour, is the English Schools Girls Team Manager and is coach to the British Army Ladies Golf Team. Stuart has played to a high level, winning several PGA county and regional events.
Both Karen and Stuart have tremendous experience in golf coaching, with both individuals and groups. This has been shown in the first year of Karen and Stuart working together at Millfield. 2006 / 07 has been the most successful for the golf academy – becoming the ISGA Schools Champions, HMC Foursomes Champions, Inter Schools Girls Champions, winning the St John’s International Schools Tournament (held annually in South Africa), having 2 boys play in the Boys U18 Home Internationals, have a pupil play in the England U18 Boys team in the European Boys Championships, have a boy and girl pupil represent England Schools in the International match v Scotland, a pupil winning the McGregor Championship.
Previous successes include winning the HMC Foursomes 6 times in 8 years, winning the Golf Foundation Team event in 2001, going on to represent England in the International Finals where they finished 4th overall. Along with these successes there have been many individual ones, including the English Girls Champion in 2001, several English Schools Internationals and England, French and Irish U18 Internationals.
The School currently has 22 single figure golfers in the golf academy. A combined golf and education programme is on offer for each student, both on an individual and a group basis. There is the opportunity to play full-time golf, playing twice a week on local courses. All golf tuition is included in the fees.
