Jo-Jo sets new British Open Record
Lower Sixth Form Millfield pupil Jo-Jo Cranfield broke the S9 Long Course 1500m Freestyle British Record at Exeter City Long Course Open (Able Bodied) Meet, which was held at Millfield between the 22nd and 24th January. Her time of 23:18.21 beat the previous record of 24:33.57 for her classification by nearly two minutes - an absolutely incredible achievement!
Renowned as a bubbly character, sixteen year old Jo-Jo from Essex joined Millfield as a boarder last year. She is an arm amputee and swims in the disability swimming classes S9, SB8 and SM9. Her club Rochford and District have supported her throughout her career, but she has now come to Millfield for the added boost needed to succeed, and hopefully secure her a place for the Paralympic Games in 2012. She is already part of the British Swimming World Class Pathway Development Squad, showing her potential for international success.
