Millfield U16A Girls Triumph through to Nationals

A long, cold day of netball proved to be well worth it on Saturday 30th January when Millfield's U16A Netball Team triumphed at the Regional Schools Tournament in Bournemouth, qualifying for the nationals by not losing a single game.

It was not an easy ride with a slightly shaky start, but excellent performances from Kiki Pearce, Harriet Dixon and Helena Carter in defence kept them in the tournament. All the girls gave 100% in every game, beating Pates Grammar School 8-2 and Bristol Grammar School 6-4. They then drew 5-5 against Bournemouth School for Girls before beating Penryn College 5-0, Colyton Grammar 7-5 and Brandon Forest 12-5. The team had to dig deep to produce a 6-5 win in the semi finals against Cheltenham Ladies College, but the final proved an easier affair and the girls produced their best game of the day to win 7-4.

Overall it was an excellent performance, but the team and their coaches are not complacent and know that there is still lots of work to do to prepare for the National Finals on Saturday 20th March at Rodean, Brighton.
