Millfield Swimming Championship
The Millfield School Swimming Clubs successful season continued at the Ponds Forge Aquatic Centre in Sheffield this month as the thirteen Millfield swimmers contested the 2010 British Gas Swimming Championships (50m).
The meet drew together the cream of swimming excellence in Great Britain. The quality of this field drew extra impetus to the brilliant success of the Millfield team, with nine of our swimmers qualifying through to championship finals.
• James Disney-May: 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle
• Georgia Holderness: 50m and 200m breaststroke
• Amelia Maughan: 50m Freestyle
• Morgyn Peters: 100m multidisability backstroke and 100m multidisability freestyle
• Jo-Jo Cranfield: 400m multidisability freestyle and 100m multidisability breaststroke
In addition, Amelia Maughan (100m freestyle) and James Disney-May (100m freestyle) came 11th, which is first reserve for the final.
To further his excellent performances at the meet, James Disney-May (Upper Sixth) has been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Junior Championships to be contested in Helsinki in July. This meet has served as the launching pad for many of Britain's great swimmers.
The swimmers will now switch their focus to the national age group and youth championships in July and August - so, for now, it's back to the training pool for the Millfield Swimming team!
