Millfield's first eleven boys are leaping at Lords
Millfield's 1st XI have won their quarter final of the National School's Twenty20 cricket beating Clifton by 47 runs. The Millfield team, defending champions, are now in the final four (Shrewsbury, Bedford and Abingdon) which will be played as semi final and final on the same day at Lords Cricket Ground on Monday 28th June 2010. Coach Ryan Cook said, "It's very exciting for the boys to be playing at cricket's spiritual home ground, they've prepared well and are confident going into the semi against Shrewsbury". Henry Thomas, captain of the side added, "I feel it's a great achievement for us, we've had a lot of new faces in the team this year, yet we've played together well but we still have a job to finish!"
Young and keen, Millfield's U15s won their Lords Taverners semi final against Wellington by 22 runs, taking them to the National Final on July 7 at Oakham School against either Bedford or Manchester Grammar School. The marvellous partnership of Ali Easton (110) and Charlie Vickery (95) cemented Millfield's win. Coach Mark Davies said, "It was a tough game in a hostile away environment but the boys did well to keep their heads and impressed with the team support and co-operation".
