Millfield win Twenty20 schools competition at Lords
Millfield have successfully defended their title as champions of the National Schools Twenty20 cricket competition by playing both semi final and final on the same day at Lords Cricket Ground yesterday. Millfield won the semi final against Shrewsbury by 3 wickets, Daniel Bell Drummond gaining a steady 44 runs with impressive wickets taken.
In the final against Bedford, Josh Pinn achieved an imposing 54 runs adding to a final total of 147-3 on 13.2 overs (winning by 7 wickets).
Coach Ryan Cook is justifiably proud of the team, "They performed well and executed their game plans with precision. It was wonderful for the boys to raise the Twenty20 trophy at Lords." The Millfield team played to an illustrious audience of cricketing excellence. In attendance was Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar, former England Captain Nasser Hussain and England team director Andy Flower. Millfield 1st XI team director Richard Ellison said "I am delighted for all connected with Millfield Cricket especially Ryan and the squad; to defend a title is never easy and the way they went about each game was both professional and through."
