Millfield Polo team in mint condition....
The Polo A team consisting of Jack Mesquita (Capt), Max Hutchinson, Ed Courage and Camilla Beresford have won the National Schools Polo Championship which took place on Sunday 27th June at Longdole Polo Club in the Cotswolds. This competition has been running since 1990, and although Millfield have consistently achieved a top 3 or 4 placing, they finally became victors in 2008.
The team defeated Pangbourne in the first round, old enemies Harrow in the semi's and Marlborough 2-1 in a very close and exciting final. Jack Mesquita scored the winner with a particularly spectacular strike. Throughout the tournament, Camilla Beresford excelled by marking out boys 4 years her senior - no mean task. Max Hutchinson was very strong in the pivotal position, and Ed Courage was very reliable as the main defense.
Ten other schools took part with most players coming from the Upper Sixth; three of the Millfield team are young enough to play in the tournament again next year.
