Millfield rugby team impresses in Ipswich
The Millfield rugby team travelled to Ipswich last weekend to compete in the St Joseph's Festival.
After playing some attractive rugby during the competition, Millfield recorded four victories and two losses.
The team's biggest victory came in their last match as they overcame Wakefield-based Queen Elizabeth Grammar School 24-3.
After a series of impressive displays, Millfield's Max Northcote-Green was recognised as the Nick Duncombe player of the tournament.
Previous winners include former Millfield boys Olly Morgan and Will Harries, who are now playing professionally for Gloucester and Gwent Dragons respectively.
Max is the first Millfield forward to receive this award and he has also been called into the England under 18 training squad along with Tom Ellis. Alfie Barron has been selected for the England under 17 training squad.
Millfield Director of Rugby John Mallett said: "We played some excellent rugby throughout the tournament but unfortunately after losing to Filton College we were unable to make the final, which was disappointing.
"There were a number of positives for us including our victory over St Joseph's College, who were last year's winners.
"The Nick Duncombe player of the tournament award is a very prestigious accolade which has been won by a number of great players in the past and Max thoroughly deserved to win it.
"The boys who have been selected to train with the England squads have all done really well this season and it is a reflection of their progress and the progress of rugby at Millfield."
