The Atkinson Gallery at Millfield School hosts its Open Show and welcomes entries from both local and national artists. The 2021 Millfield Open Show no longer has a cap on the entry price of work and work of any sale value may be entered.

This exhibition provides the artist with a unique opportunity to exhibit commission free.

The Gallery is a critically acclaimed space and offers artists of all media a chance to have work selected and exhibited from 22 February – 26 March 2021. We aim to provide an eclectic show that caters for a variety of tastes and represent a broad spectrum of artwork.

Entry form and payment must be received by 5pm on Monday 4 January 2021.

Entry fee: £10 per work (£5 per work for full-time students).

All submissions are by photography / email only. Please do not send original artworks to the gallery. Each artist may submit up to three works (painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, DVD, film etc.).

No commission will be taken on sales for this event.

Millfield reserves the right not to hang all selected works whether this is due to lack of space or any other factor which may affect the overall nature of the exhibition. The decision of the Director of Art is final. Millfield cannot enter into any correspondence or discussion over the decisions made by the Director.

Notification

Entrants will be notified of selection decisions by Friday 29 January 2021. If work has been selected it will be indicated by a tick in the appropriate box. An 'R' indicates a reserve piece - this means it may be included in the show. A cross indicates not selected. Please note it is not always possible to notify people before the Private View whether their reserved work is included in the exhibition.

Delivery of requested work

If your work is selected or reserved please deliver it to the Atkinson Gallery, Millfield, Street, BA16 0YD on Sunday 14th February: 10am - 4pm. Entrance will be through the Gatehouse only unless prior arrangements have been made. Please contact the gallery at atkinsongallery@millfieldschool.com if your work is large or difficult to transport.

Your work must be ready to exhibit and be unpacked upon delivery. Mirror plates must be attached halfway down each side of the canvas/frame. If your work is heavy, please bring assistance with you. No work will be accepted any other day unless by prior arrangement.

Collection of work

All work to be collected on Sunday 28 March: 10am - 4pm. Works not included will be kept in locked storage and it will not be possible to collect them until the close of the exhibition unless otherwise agreed. Work must be collected on the date specified; please bring assistance with you if your work is heavy. Uncollected work will be disposed of.

Insurance

Work selected will be insured by Millfield for the duration of the exhibition for their sale value. Whilst every care will be taken in the housing and handling of work, no responsibility will be accepted by Millfield for any damage that might occur. Artists should insure their work for the period of transit.

Photographs taken of work during the exhibition may be used in promotional material to advertise the Gallery and next year's Millfield Open Show. The Gallery reserves the right to use these images.
