I initially chose to join Millfield because of sports, in particular football. I wanted to be part of an on campus program that is passionate about prioritising and progressing women’s football. I also wanted to experience what boarding school would be like having previously attended an all girls day school in Australia.

Millfield didn’t seem like a school but more like a community which was a huge factor in my decision to come here. The facilities and coaching also stood out. It’s so good to have amazing facilities right outside, with really supportive and encouraging coaches who really want you to succeed. 

My favorite thing about Millfield is how important the combination of sports and academics are. Everyone is committed to improving in both which helps me push myself to do better. I love being surrounded by people who are motivated and passionate about what they’re doing.

I am currently in Year 10 doing my GCSEs. I chose to study PE, hospitality and catering and religious studies. I have really benefitted from the smaller class sizes and the teaching approach at Millfield and feel I have gained a much deeper understanding and greater knowledge on the subjects/topics I am studying. My hopes for my future are to have a career in football or do something along the lines of physiotherapy.

I am currently doing football as my sport. As I have only been at Millfield one term I haven’t had the chance to try many other activities, but I am really looking forward to making the most of all the other opportunities.

My advice to someone who is thinking about coming to Millfield would be to come because you never know what experience you could get from it. I joined in Year 10 and I was definitely nervous as I came from the other side of the world not knowing anyone. I had also never boarded, so I was a little sceptical, but once you are here for even a week you can already feel a sense of community at the school. Experiencing Millfield has been my best decision as I have learnt so many new things about myself.
