I decided to come to Millfield because I wanted to progress my level of sport and move to a different environment which will help me strive to be the most successful I can be in sport and general life. Millfield is different to my old school, it was a smaller independent school which had less people, a smaller sporting scope and smaller ambitions. Millfield has bigger ambitions on the sporting front by striving to be the best sports school year in and year out, which has helped me develop my skills in a very competitive environment since I joined in Year 9.

My favourite thing about Millfield has to be the sport, I couldn’t imagine being here without it. It’s something that gives you the motivation to do things everyday, for example I have early morning cricket on a Monday morning and its tough getting up early but because of the facilities, coaching access and friends, you get up because you know its going to be a good start to your day.

I’m currently studying BTEC sport and food science and nutrition. They have benefitted me in my aim to be a professional athlete, as we learn about the body and what your body needs to benefit performance. I couldn’t recommend doing these subjects more, as the teachers are great and you learn some very valuable life skills whilst getting a valid qualification.

So far at Millfield I have played cricket, rugby and football. I joined the school to come and play rugby and cricket, arriving in the summer term just in time for the cricket season. However, due to injuries, I had to pick whether I wanted to keep playing cricket or rugby (I chose cricket), and in the spring of Year 10 I then picked up football and have been playing it ever since. I've loved every minute and I made my debut in Year 11. I have enjoyed my cricket here as well, though I haven’t played a full season in my time here due to injuries, however, this summer that will hopefully change and I will have an uninterrupted season taking plenty of wickets for the Meyers XI.

My advice for someone coming to Millfield would be to take everything head on because life moves fast here, you have to keep up. Sometimes if you want to succeed you have to make sacrifices, so just take things as they come, you’re at your best when you enjoy things, so just enjoy it and make the most of this opportunity you have been given.
