My life at Millfield centres around music, I play both the piano and the double bass. It is something I am hugely passionate about and I hope to become a musician or pursue something in this field after I leave school. What is fantastic here is the number and variety of opportunities available to me, especially in music, to perform in recitals and concerts and to play in so many different ensembles, including the jazz sextet and chamber ensembles. I will be shortly taking my Diploma in double bass and I am developing my musical repertoire for conservatoire auditions and National Youth Orchestra auditions. My subject and instrumental teachers have really supported me, whether this has been by encouraging my passion for music and pushing me to take up opportunities that challenge me.

Academic life is also enjoyable, and I really like the subjects that I have chosen to take for A level; music, chemistry and mathematics. The learning involved in Sixth Form challenges me to stretch myself further in order to gain a better understanding. Indeed, always being able to improve on my skills and learning new skills and concepts during lessons is very motivating. At Millfield, I appreciate the many talks and lectures that happen frequently and that anyone can attend, so I can learn about different things to what happens in lessons. A highlight has been the trip to attend the Cambridge Chemistry talks, and I have also been to maths lectures and A level chemistry Live in Birmingham.

Being at Millfield means being a part of a diverse family community, with supportive friends and teachers. There is always a safe place for me to turn to for help and support.
