Legacies

Millfield House

Supporting Millfield with a gift or donation in your Will has a lasting impact on future generations. An education at Millfield offers incredible opportunities for young people through the friends they make, the teaching and facilities, and the worldwide community that they become part of.

Many people are not in a position to make a contribution in their lifetime but a legacy can be a final tribute to Millfield, a gift that can endure into the future.

In general, legacy gifts made to Millfield School, during your lifetime or on your death, are exempt from Inheritance Tax. Bequests made to charities can be deducted from the net value of your Estate, which reduces your Inheritance Tax liability. A solicitor is the best person to advise on this and will be able to help you decide what would be right for you. The Inheritance Tax threshold is usually reviewed in the UK Government Budget each year and information on the current level is always available from their website here

Keeping Millfield Informed

If you are happy to do so, please let us know if you intend to leave Millfield a legacy by filling in the short Legacy Notification form below. This does not involve any obligations, but it will enable us to share relevant news and events with you and, most importantly, thank you for your support. Your response and any subsequent correspondence or discussion will be treated in the strictest confidence.

If you would like further information about supporting Millfield through your Will, please get in touch here.

"I have never been in a position to make a substantial, meaningful donation so my contributions have lent more towards service and time rather than cash. However, through my Will I am able to make a meaningful donation. For the school, I will be increasing the opportunity for deserving students to experience Millfield, just as I had done many years ago."

Malcolm Tucker (1961-1965; Millfield House).

Academic Sixth Form Student

In 2017, we received an unexpected notification from a gentleman who had no links with Millfield. As a child he was gifted in a number of sports and felt he could have become a professional cricketer, if he had been given the opportunities that Millfield pupils enjoy. He decided to leave a legacy for young people who have a talent but limited financial means:

“Our legacy gift will provide young talented people with an opportunity to aim high and dream big.”
