Millfield School is seeking a passionate and experienced Development Swim Coach to join our renowned swimming programme. As the Development Swim Coach, you will play a crucial role in coaching and nurturing young swimmers throughout our structure, helping them achieve their full potential.

Millfield is an independent boarding school with outstanding pastoral and co-curricular activities, set in the heart of Somerset. We cater for approximately 1300 pupils, all of whom are engaged in sport and physical activities. We have outstanding facilities and a vibrant multisport environment.

The successful candidate will have a minimum UKCC Level 1 coaching qualification and experience within the world of aquatics as either a teacher, coach, or athlete.  They will have knowledge of the long-term development practices for students in line with the British Swimming optimal athlete development framework, and experience of coaching students to a minimum of regional championship standard. NPLQ and NRASTC qualifications are desirable.

This is a fixed-term contract until 31st July 2025, offering 20 hours per week across Monday to Saturday during term time, with a remuneration of £21.79 per hour plus statutory holiday pay. Additionally, you will be required to work 30 days during non-term time, attending competitions and training camps, for which you will receive a day rate of £153.26.

Accounts Receivables Assistant

Millfield School is seeking an Account Receivables Assistant to join our team, playing a pivotal role in managing financial operations and delivering exceptional service.

As an Accounts Receivables Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with invoice processing, monitoring outstanding balances, and ensuring timely collection of payments.

The Fees department are a small but busy team, and the successful applicant will therefore need to be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team, be an excellent communicator, highly organised and able to keep calm under pressure. Essential skills also include strong numeracy skills, proficiency in Excel and outstanding attention for details.

This is an office based, year-round role working 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Junior Systems Developer

Millfield School is seeking a passionate Junior Systems Developer to join our dynamic IT Services team. In this role, you will support the development, maintenance, and administration of software systems across both our Prep and Senior Schools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in software development projects and maintain existing applications.
• Provide support for system administration tasks across the school.
• Collaborate using modern development tools such as GitHub, SQL, Blazor, and C#.NET.

 Skills & Experience:

• Basic programming experience is essential—whether self-taught or acquired through formal education.
• Familiarity with C#, HTML, CSS, SQL databases, and web-based development is beneficial.
• A genuine passion for coding, experimentation, and developing innovative software solutions is a must.

 Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
• Occasional Saturday mornings on a rota basis within term time (08:30 – 12:00).

Leisure Attendant

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for all aspects of pool management to join us as a full-time Leisure Attendant. Key responsibilities include lifeguarding at both Millfield Main Pool and Millfield Prep Pool, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations, codes of practice, and operational protocols to safeguard all users. Additionally, supervision of the Cricket Centre and Golf Centre will be part of the role.

A valid NPLQ certificate is essential, and prior lifeguarding experience is advantageous. The ideal candidate will exhibit confidence, a collaborative spirit and strong communication skills.

This is a full-time, permanent role working 35 hours per week on a shift rota, predominantly early mornings and day shifts however this will also include some weekends, evenings and bank holidays.  In recognition of your commitment and expertise, you will receive a salary of £21,445 per annum, supplemented by an extensive range of benefits.

Flexibility is essential, as the role entails varied shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Key responsibilities include lifeguarding at both Millfield Main Pool and Millfield Prep Pool, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations, codes of practice, and operational protocols to safeguard all users. This is a zero-hour contract with a rate of pay of £11.44 per hour plus statutory holiday pay.

Millfield School is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to fill the position of Swimming Pool and Sports Facilities Duty Manager.

Applicants must hold a valid NPLQ certification, with experience in lifeguarding and leadership preferred but not required. The ideal candidate should have experience working in a busy pool environment and possess strong communication and organisational skills.

Key responsibilities include being a key holder, leading a team of lifeguards and swim teachers, performing lifeguard duties at both the Millfield Senior Pool and Millfield Prep Pool, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, codes of practice, and operating procedures. Additional duties include setting up and dismantling equipment, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and supervising the Cricket Centre and Golf Centre. Experience in the leisure industry or customer service is advantageous.

Housekeeping Cleaner

We are currently looking for individuals with cleaning experience (or a willingness to learn) to join our cleaning team.

Housekeeping Cleaners will be responsible for cleaning an allocated area which may be classrooms, offices, sport and art facilities, boarding houses or other school buildings.

Current Vacancies 

Due to the nature of the role the hours of work for most positions can be flexed to meet the requirements of the successful candidate.

Boarding House cleaning hours –

3 hours per day, Monday – Friday, and 2 hours on alternate Saturdays (typically 8.30am-10.30am). This is a year-round post (52 weeks). Start times are flexible between 8.30am and 9.15am.  On occasion, you may also be required to work a Sunday during non-term time for which you will receive reasonable notice and a day back in lieu during the week.

We also have an opportunity for laundry duty hours in one of our boarding houses working 11.30am-1.30pm Monday and 11.30am-12.30pm Wednesday to Friday during term time.
