Working closely with the Director of Sport, coaching team, academic staff, boarding houses and parents, you will provide strategic leadership across all aspects of swimming at Millfield.
About the Role
As Head of Swimming, you will be responsible for the planning, development and delivery of Millfield's comprehensive swimming programme, leading performance, coach development, athlete recruitment, competition planning, governance and community engagement. You will also oversee the continued development of swimming pathways across the school, supporting student-athletes from participation level through to international competition.
We are looking for a Head of Swimming who:
- Has a proven track record of developing swimmers to national, international, Commonwealth and Olympic level, with performance sport remaining a clear priority.

Working Hours and Salary

Millfield School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Fencing Coach to join our coaching team on a zero-hour basis.
As part of our specialist fencing programme, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality coaching to individual athletes, working closely with our wider performance support teams, including athletic development, psychology and performance analysis.
Millfield is committed to providing exceptional sporting opportunities for pupils aged 5–18, regardless of experience or ability. Our renowned fencing programme includes specialist coaches across all three disciplines and is supported by outstanding facilities, including a purpose-built Fencing Salle with eight training pistes, each equipped with in-built scoring boxes and lighting.
The successful candidate will hold or be working towards a Level 2 British Fencing Coaching Sabre qualification (or equivalent), be a current member of British Fencing and be up to date on the British Fencing Coaching Register, and have successful experience in coaching Youth Fencers.
This is a zero-hour fixed term position until September 2028. Cover will be as and when needed during the week, but we anticipate 4 hours on a Wednesday and 4 hours on a Friday, plus private lessons as required. There will also be some weekend work to support competitions.
The rate of pay is £22.06 per hour, plus statutory holiday pay. Any private lessons will be at a rate of pay of £26.62.

Millfield School is seeking an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to support the leadership and delivery of key operational services across the School. Working closely with the Head of Operations, this varied role will help ensure the efficient, safe and compliant running of services that support the day-to-day life of our school community, while driving continuous improvement and high standards of service delivery.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and develop the Millfield Community Team, overseeing key operational services including parcel management, security systems and the provision of a professional, customer-focused service to pupils, staff, parents and visitors.
- Act as deputy to the Head of Operations, ensuring continuity of service and effective decision-making when required.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of school events and operational projects, ensuring services run efficiently and effectively.
- Oversee operational processes including security systems, contractor management and service delivery standards.
- Support budget management, identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and ensure purchasing activities are carried out in line with School procedures.
- Promote a culture of excellent customer service, teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement across operational teams.

Millfield School is seeking a Community Safeguarding Steward to support the Pastoral Team in promoting a safe, secure and positive environment within student changing room areas. Through regular engagement and visible patrols, you will help prevent incidents, support student wellbeing and assist with safeguarding, safety and security matters as they arise.

Millfield School is seeking a Day House Manager to work in a boys’ day house, providing high-quality pastoral support during term time.
As a Day House Manager, you will be joining a small team of staff who work together to ensure that the pupils feel safe, secure and at home, whilst also playing a pivotal part in making sure the house runs smoothly and efficiently.
Key duties will include supervising pupils in the house, general tidying and managing the upkeep of the house, ordering food and distributing snacks, and assisting pupils with day-to-day tasks such as mending uniforms, basic first aid and sorting lost property.

Millfield Enterprises is the commercial arm of Millfield School. We recruit temporary staff aged 18 or over, who are eligible to work in the UK, to support a variety of Millfield Enterprises holiday courses. Roles include pastoral and locum duties, as well as sports coaching positions.
